Super M stuck in 4th or 5th

Hi guys...I've got a Super M that has decided to lock up in either 4th or 5th. I've removed the shift lever and all the rails are aligned in neutral. The end of the shifter engages all gears and it seems like I can shift it into all 5 gears and reverse. Tractor starts with the clutch depressed and bogs as if in 4th or 5th gear when released. I cannot roll the tractor. Do I have two gears engaged? I have not pulled the top plate yet, just in case there is an easier fix, which is why I now post this question! If I do need to pull the plate, what do I need to do to fix it and prevent it from happening again?
