Many times I post suggestions for repairing that some of you might think go a bit beyond what is really needed and may tend to be boarder-line fussy. Well, last night I fired up my old backhoe (Case 680CK that I bought used reasonable) with the 251 CID gas engine in it after a FULL out of the chassis rebuild. (It was using about a quart of oil in two to three hours.) Just to prove that I put my money where my mouth is: The overhaul included sleeves and pistons, rings, gaskets, cam bearings, cook out the block, cook out the heads, tear down the oil pump, four valve guides, three new exhaust valves, two new intake valves, plane both heads, polish the crankshaft, STD mains, .002 under rods, checked the rods, new piston pins and bushings, thermostat, cleaned radiator, new hoses, spark plugs, points, wires, cap, rotor, condenser, pressure tested the radiator cap, and probably some things Im not thinking about. On top of that I rebuilt six of the hydraulic cylinders on the hoe and loader. WHEW!!!!! No, you dont want to know how much this cost (engine kit alone was $1300 without cam bearings). I dont even want to know what the total is but will have to know at some point. ;<( Up side; it fired off like it has just been run yesterday and purred like a kitten for the first hour of run-in. :>) Going to set the valves (cold on this engine) today yet and put the loader, grill, and hood on so I can start breaking it in and using it! You all have a good night
