If you replaced the fluid, it is probably OK. Using an aftermarket high flow filter in the return line to the pump can catch material before it gets into the pump. Flow should be 16GPM or so to reduce restriction on the intake. Taking it all apart, sucking out fluid and cleaning the bottom of the resivoir is another option, if you are rreeaall serious.
