Get some calves that were just weaned, it doesn't really matter with the types, heifers are always more likely to finish out faster than steers, I have no idea why. I would go to a green tag sale- a green tag sale is a sale for calves that have had all their shots and you don't have to worry about a thing cept inplanting. I would start out with just a few feeders now then if everything goes well start buying some brood cows. Of course you might just wanna mess around with different breeds see which ones you like best.
