I think the on-farm storage is well worth looking in to. Used bins are not hard to find, not the worst to move. Don't need to totally dismantle them, although sometimes you'll find them with that already done. Downside of elevator storage is you are committed to selling to them or pay about a dime to haul it out, in addition to about 3c per month storage cost. Sometimes a dime dump fee as well. Better to keep it at home. Local 'neighbor' had commercial storage, bilked 65 of his neighbors out of 1.1 million in his bankruptcy. Neighbors had to pay drying and storage fees and could not get any corn out for their livestock! Even if you get only a few years contract on the land you could rent out your bins if you lose the land. (Don't build just one big bin) They'll pay for themselves in less than two crops.
