Read the spray label, it is a binding legal document and will answer all your questions. The above disclaimer being noted, it all depends on the herbicide you are going to use. Some have residual and will attach to the soil particles remaining active for a time, some will only work on “contact” or kill weeds that are already up. If it has residual it may injure the corn as it emerges though the soil, especially if it injured it after it was up last year. (The label will tell you if it is a residual or not.) If it is a contact only spray and the corn is still below the ground it won’t be affected by the herbicide.
