After a number of years of use , I believe that MY gearshift lever is not suffering so much from wear as it is the possibility that the construction material of said gearshift is undergoing a transformation. It would appear that as wear (age) increases, there is a possibility that the gearshift seems to become more flexible. I assume that this apparent flexibility would be a design flaw; however upon detailed research, a change of transmission appears to remedy the perceived loss of rigidity.... like going from a 4 speed to a 6 speed; or a Clark to a Roadranger; or from a 5X4 to an 18 speed airsplit double over, without having to double or even triple clutch!!!!!!! Now about Allison automatics........Like I said, perceived.....QR..
