I have found that desperation or the realization that “It’s junk now, can anything I do make it worse?” makes one try things that have been deemed impossible by many and new discoveries and processes are forthcoming. I just arc welded (with nickel rod) about a 2” crack between the valves and the spark plug hole on an M head and put it back together with the old head gasket. So far it seems to be holding. How long will it hold? Well, only time will tell for sure, that is why I put in the old head gasket. I say if it’s junk and you get it working Hurrah!!!! If it’s junk and you didn’t save it, you had cheap (well maybe not) learning experience. Thanks for passing on your experience.
