I just arc welded (with nickel rod) about a 2� crack between the valves and the spark plug hole on an M head and put it back together with the old head gasket. So far it seems to be holding. How long will it hold? Well, only time will tell for sure, that is why I put in the old head gasket.

I say if it�s junk and you get it working Hurrah!!!! If it�s junk and you didn�t save it, you had cheap (well maybe not) learning experience.
