Check ALL wires & connectors in the voltage regulator/ wiring harness area. Due to vibration, many of these wires tend to break where they are connected to their terminations. Check also for wires which may have broken back toward the instrument panel. My brother had a wire come apart which carried 12v. from the solenoid up to the bat, terminal on the regulator. Use a voltmeter to check for voltages at different points in the system to pinpoint faulty connections or parts.
