The TA, being uncontrolled, is operating as though it needs to prevent reverse rotation of the TA unit. This is normal when in TA (lever back). Fixing it is going to require a splitting of the tractor to access the components (unless the shafts and pvots are still sticking out). There are TA removal "KITS" which replace the TA with a drive shaft. There may be very little wrong with the TA. I would fix it rather than remove it because it really makes the tractor much more flexible and handy when working. Levers and internal components are available from bone yards, and from Hy Trans and others. Good luck, JimN
