154 Lowboy PTO...HELP

I have a 154 cub lowboy that has PTO trouble. I can pull up on the leaver to engauge it, my mower starts right up but before long it disengauges itself, with the leaver droping back down. I have even tryed to hold the leaver up by hand, but that to doesn`t keep it from stoping by itself. Can anyone help?
