Anytime you take apart the mag and remove the magnet or coil pole piece you will lose some magnetism although not enough that the mag won't fire at all. Bearings going out and letting the magnet rotor drag in the case can cause the magnet to lose charge. Every magnet can benfit some from recharging during a mag overhaul but it should only be done on a magnet charger that is capable of doing so or you aren't accomplishing anything. A stronger magnet will give you a hotter bluer spark also.
