Assuming it is a gas tractor: The easiest item would be a choke control link that disconnected and allowed the choke to be applied some, or a lot. Checking the choke mechanism is the first task. The second is a piece of dirt in the float controlled needle and seat (inside the carb bowl) or sticking float. Getting a manual is a must to take things apart. Good luck JimN
