believe the "cough" is causing the oil to get into the jar. It is a backfire and literally blows oil from the air cleaner up into the jar. backfire can be caused by a lot of things; ignition (coil, condensor, timing), burnt valve or valve sticking, or carburetor mixture (usually too lean). Running backward on shutdown can move the oil also. For what it is worth. Roger in Iowa
