Disk size VS horsepower ?

Hi , I posted this question on Implement alley also so don't distress too much . How do you size a disk to a tractor ? Is there some rule of thumb ? Is it determined by horsepower or weight of tractor ? I guess that there's a number of variables involved . One other question , Is it a foolish notion to try and pull double duty with a disk meaning I have a Farmall M and a 1755 Oliver , about 7000 lbs and 50 hp difference . Question is - if the disk has a main frame width of 14'and unfolded is 20' not including the furrow fillers would the M pull it with the wings up and the 1755D pull it with it unfolded assuming 18"-20" blades ?
