I have been thinking about what you said in your post, I just need more info. The TA will slow the tractor down when pulled back. That is its job. Always move the lever with determination from direct, to TA, and from TA to direct. If the Tractor pulls loads in TA, lever back,(a plow, or disk), or starts in 5th TA from a standing start without problems, and moves cleanly into direct when the handle is moved briskly forward, it is probably not bad. All TAs need to be adjusted once in a while. The TA in our 350U is original and still operational 49 years old. (with high hours and max use plowing and working ground). Buy a book (here on this site) to correctly adjust the linkage, it is way important. Good luck, JimN
