The white stripes were a pretty eratic thing. Crawlers had them until 1942, when IH couldn't get good white paint anymore. The ag tractors weren't supposed to get white stripes in production, but apparently a few did. It was an unoffical thing. There's a little documentation of the issue at the paint committee decisions at the State Historical Society of Wisconsin Arhives website.
In later years, some of the overseas divisions painted stripes on their tractors, especially company owned tractors. I just saw a photo of two Super MTAs with white stripes at a dealership training course in Mexico.
