Gentlemen, There are actually two seals in the sediment bowl casting, housing, fuel shut off valve or whatever you want to call it. One is in the "packing nut" that screws on to the body of the valve and has the shut off (90 degree) shut off/on coming out of it. The other seal is inside the valve and is for when the valve is closed or shut off, it keeps the gas from coming out of the tank. Both of these seals were originally a flax type of seal and they do wear out over time. I've never had any luck just replacing the seals especially the inner one. My recommendation is replace the whole thing for around $25, be rid of the leak and the propencity for a nasty fire! You can't replace your tractor for $25.00. Just my 2 cents worth.
