706G oil control ring ??

Working on dads 706 C263. it has 3 slots on the pistons for rings. top 2 are compression rings ring end gap is correct. On the bottom set i have the waved ring and then 1 ring for above and 1 for below the waved ring. When I set them in the sleeve they overlap and there is no gap is that right? Is that how they keep the oil on the bottom? I think the machine shop checked it all but not sure, there not open now + I didn't pick the parts up dad did. Any help thanks maybe I CAN Post pics I you are confused
