Neale, at the end of the steering column, front of gear box is a cap that threads off, there is a bearing on the end of column, if this bearing has any play at all, it will make the steering shake bad at road speed. The bearing is expensive from IH, about 80 bucks, I got one from GMC dealer for around 15$. GMC TOPKICK gas engine pilot bearing in flywheel is same size just is a sealed bearing instead of open.
