There are (2) different JD 2 bottom plows (at least). The frame for the 44 is made out of solid rectangular steel bars. Mine has 'JD' on the backside of the rear brace between the two main rails, and 'No 44' on the second brace from the back. The other 2 bottom plow had curved cast iron (steel?) beams. I don't know the model number for that one. Our neighbor has one and it is a very sweet plow. Most of our soil is fairly sandy and my H will pull 2-16s, just about everywhere, in third gear. The exceptions are in the spots of solid clay or peat.
