The tank setup was the crosswise tank, steering rod went through the tank, not over it. The valves all face rearward.
Your M is a 1941 model, not particulary rare. But since you are building a pulling tractor out of it you will probably be doing lots of changes and modification to is so that is ok, You didn't say if it was running or not, judging from the price ti is not, probably stuck. You have got your work cut out for you. $450 is at least scrap price.
