MJF, IH didn't start putting LP on Ms till the Stage I Supers in 1952. Sorry Andrew for the correctiom Go to Guy Fay letter series book for reference. The tank setup was the crosswise tank, steering rod went through the tank, not over it. The valves all face rearward. Your M is a 1941 model, not particulary rare. But since you are building a pulling tractor out of it you will probably be doing lots of changes and modification to is so that is ok, You didn't say if it was running or not, judging from the price ti is not, probably stuck.
