Have the shifter built up on the bottom where it goes into the rails. If you don�t have a welder and it will take you a while before you can have it done, you can help prevent this a couple ways. First when you shift it make sure that you move the lever straight back or straight forward until you are in neutral, then move it to the side as desired. Also slow down the speed you are moving the shifter and make sure that you are making a square corner like an H not rounding the corner in a U shift pattern. A lot of us try to do the quick U especially when under a loader and in a hurry. Good luck.
