Attach one jumper cable to the starter bolt where the heavy battery cable [insulated] is connected,hold starter switch closed, and scratch the other end of the jumper along a convenient bolt or other place on the frame of the tractor. If you get a LARGE amount of fire[ sparks] from doing this, you probably have starter problems. If not much sparking, suspect a bad connection at starter switch, battery posts[connections], or ground cable connection at frame of tractor.
