Before you open up the engine try this. Fill the cylinders with tranny fluid and let it sit a day or so. Then with the plug out try the starter I can almost bet it will tunr over. What has probably happened is the cylinders have rusted a little and that is why its locked up. I have done that on 10 plus engines and so far never had to open one up yet.
