Starter Soleniod ?????

My 330U has been having a problem when trying to start it. I will turn the key switch off but the starter keeps on spinning or trying then I pull the battery cable. I have narrowed it down to the starter solenoid. If I tap it, it will sometimes stop the starter from spinning. My tractor is a 12volt system and i noticed a 6V stamped in the solenoid, does that need to be 12V. Also, when I get it to run, it will only run for one second and just die. Would the starter solenoid cause the tractor to die like that?
