I remember passing up a 1954 SW-4 , complete and good paint, etc for $650 CDN a number of years ago. What struck me was that this tractor, a one owner, had the style of seat found on the SW6-TAs, ie the seat had a under mounted shock and a big coil spring under the seat, verus the short thick coil spring that was forward of the seat and those had no shock absorber. The seat adjusted fore and aft like a Super C seat also. I thought that IH made changes to the SW-4s similar to the changes made to the SW-6. The SW-6 went from a cast front frame and 16 inch tires to the channal frame with 18 inch fronts to the TA series. Also on the TA series was the throttle action not reversed? And some SW-4s reversed as well? the owner of the previously described SW-4 told me that he lamanted not waiting until late summer, 1954 when the 300 series came out. He did later buy an IH 350 utility new in 1958, keeping the SW-4. Were there any other changes besides the seat and maybe the throttle action? QR
