I used dish detergent on the seal and on the lip of the sleeve. Make sure the recessed area for the sleeve in the block is clean. I didn't use anything but the headgasket when installing the head. No leaks either. Make sure the area in the block where these seals are installed is clean
of all dirt or rust. Very important. Hal
PS: I covered the seals with water after installing the sleeves and let it sit all night
to check for leaks.
