IH 384 tranny fluid

just bought a 1982 international harvester model 384 with front loader. on top of tranny by gear shift is a filler plug...how do i know when it has the proper amount of fluid in it.can't find a dipstick or a plug on side of tranny to fill it up to?? loader pump runs off this fluid also it seems. thanks for any help. morgan
