Your magneto DOESN'T care what ground polarity the tractor is, and should not even be connected to the tractor's electrical system. (Unless someone has "gutted' it out, and added a coil, making a distributor out of it.)

With the "kill" wire disconnected from the magneto, it should spark when the engine is cranked.

All the kill wire does is short the mag to ground when you want to stop the engine.

If you are feeding battery power into an original magento, you'll "kill" it!
