For the price of the electronic ign and a new high output coil you will probly be in the same price range as a good mag W new coil, Mag parts being more exspencive than dist is an ol wifes tale not any more. The electronic ign takes over for the points and I believe when you buy the one for your dist ithas the gap set in the chip.So you do away with the dwell setting thats hard to get with points. Some say to open the plug gap 5 to 10 thousands on the electronic ign becuase they fire better. I sell them but have never used one. So the rest isup to the guys that use them every day. I do know in the class at the tractor pull that I pull they are not alowed.
