Paul is right. He has broken the little pin that runs up and down the worm gear to move the large gears in the box.
It's a bear to fix cause all the parts covering the steering assy have to come off. Fuel tank, instrument panel and everything connected.
That is a hardened pin and I do not know if you can still get it.
