Do you mean the shaft itself has play on the transmission bearings, that the bolt has play in its hole in the yoke, or that the yoke itself has play? Technically, there really shouldn't be much play anywhere in there. The bolts should be tight in their holes in the yoke. And by tight I mean very tight!! After we got the nuts off of the bolts on our W6, we had to use long prybars and hammers to separate the coupler, as it did not want to come loose. If the shaft is wobbling, transmission bearings are weak and/or shot. If the coupler never gets tight, It is possible it is binding somewhere on the bolts or there is a burr in one of the bolt holes. We really had to crank on those bolts to get them to pull the coupler back together(because of the interference fit). We didn't have an impact so we did it with long breaker bars.
