Raymond Loewy did a lot of industrial design work
in the 30's 40's and 50's. I know him from
another hobby of mine, railroads. He designed
bodies for diesel locomotives made by Baldwin. He
did a lot of design work for the Pennsylvania
railroad, most notably their GG-1 electric
locaomotives in the 30's. His firm "Raymond Lowey
and Associates?) designed everything from
appliances to auto's (and Farmalls) in the Art
Deco period. One of Loewy's contemporaies of the
period was Henry Dreyfuss who "styled" the Jo
