Jonathan: As said by others, after 1955 production runs of various models were so much shorter than letter series. Letter series plus Supers were around for 15 years. After 55, 5 years was a long production run, except for Cub and 140. Then as horsepower began to increase into the 60s, it just took fewer tractors to farm North America. Probably IH was producing more horsepower per year and per model. Now there would be an interesting discussion; what year did IH produce the most tractor horsepower and what model holds the title. Still further do a poll on which model clocked the most hours across North America. You will be surprised how far down the pecking order the H and M will be in such a poll. I'll bet they will not even be in the top 10. 3 polls: Year of most total horsepower. Model with most total horsepower. Model with the most total hours of work. Not quite sure how one will calculate the hours one. I can tell you there are a lot of 06 and 56 series that have topped the 20,000 hour mark. Still number one in my book as the best IH ever built.
