For oil stains you can do no better than cat litter ground in with your shoe and allowed to sit for a couple of weeks. For that matter cat litter thrown on a fresh stain will soak up the vast majority. I have found that a 5 dollar sheet of 5/8 4'x8' sheet rock placed under a tractor while working on it or under one that leaks absorbs all stains. You can tilt it against a wall for later use, leave it lay in one place or simply throw it away for a very minimal cost.
