I had a 340 utility a few years ago. The hydraulic suction was on the right on the transmission case. If the tractor got a little unlevel the oil would run away from the suction strainer and the pump would get a gulp of air. Many times I had to unhook from my implement, pull to level ground and crack the pressure side of the pump to get the oil flowing again. I read somebody say they put a lot of extra oil in to help that problem. I'm sure glad I got to where I could afford a newer tractor.
