If they are users, and not lookers, change them to 12v. I like mitsubishi alternators small compact and reasonable cost, internal regulators. They and all alternators (to be found easily) are neg ground. Bob M has wiring diagrams (see archives). Putting 5-30 oil in it will also help drastically in cold weather. 15-40 in summer. Try a higher CCA 6v. battery. 650 or more THey do not usually cause your grief. Keep us informed on your outcome, JimN
