Yes, the parts book makes it look as if the 285
723 R1 is needed along with the seal.
Actually the 285 723 R1 looks like a large
diameter "O" ring. Take it apart and see. I
didn't have to replace the seals in my SC
when I did the brakes last fall. That was about
the only seals that didn't need replacing!
