Do it. 454 inch Chevies should be (relitively) inexpensive. Cubic horse power is always fun. My thinking (small efficient engine turning rapidly) was personal preference. Unless there are massive weights on the beast, bigfoot tires, and/or duals or other traction enhancing factors the rear end forces will probably be limited by traction. I've seen Massey 55 differentials being twisted by 3000 horse power from gas turbine engines with no issues. I would use a high pressure hypoid rated synthetic lubricant. If it will be just a conversation piece pulling hay rides etc. then it is a non-issue. The other end of the curve was a 10 HP Briggs driving the PTO shaft on a JD G (the engine had been replaced by a barbecue grill) JimN
