Put it on the cast and the sheet metal. "Grace Periods" usually range from 3 days to about a week. PPG Omni MP170 must be scuffed and reapplied after 3 days. I haven't bought any lately, the last I bought cost me $78/gallon including hardener, add $10+ to that for the current price. There are probably cheaper brands, but I do not mix products from different manufacturers, although CIH 2150 likely works just fine over MP170. I am a strong believer in primer, regardless of the "fact" that you don't have to use primer when using an alkyd enamel like 2150 (2150 has some acrylic properties).
