Fuels now contain alcohol which can disolve some sealants (I think Hi-Tac) is affected over time. Depending on the leak, putty/paste type fuel tank sealer may do better. Much depends on the type of leak. Cracks are best stopped by drilling a tiny hole at the propegating (narrowest end) to stop it from continuing, then sealing it
