It moved. There was a dimple on the part that went into the keyhole. It slid in until the dimple was entirely through the hole. The part was then rotated (something like 1/4 turn) into working position. The dimple kept it from sliding out of the hole. The upper end of the part was then free to move fore-aft. The Liftall cylinder was connected to it to push it forward. Since it was a 1 way cylinder, the weight of the equipment pulled it back. By the way, Cub cranks in these holes on each side make excellent handles for lifting those pumps. It gives you handles that are above the center of gravity.
