If you haven’t already checked out the cost of a rebuilt engine (or worst case scenario) then as Allen suggests, and I agree you should. This potential cost to you should be considered as part of your bargaining with the owner. If he won’t meet what you are willing to pay, then you need to walk and let him think about it for a while. He might come down in a week or two if he can’t find another buyer. :>) Board participants have informed you of potential issues, but you alone have seen the tractor and you need to set YOUR value on it. We as board participants don’t have to continue looking for a tractor, or have to pay the price to fix up one that you bought… My nickel’s worth.
