Farmall Super H Gets stuck in Gear

Guys,
I"ve got a "53 Super H that every once in a while gets stuck in gear. When it does this I have to take the gear shifter off. Stick the shifter down into the gears and wiggle it around to get the gears back into neutral. Any idea why this might be happening? I think the shifter might be worn on the end the fits down into the gears, but I"m not sure of this because I don"t know what a new shifter looks like. Any help would be great as I"d like to fix this problem. It has never gotten stuck while driving. Just when I leave it in gear and park it. I"ve been trying to park it in neutral with the brake on and that seems to help.
