R, The Delco you hear so much about (10S1) is actually a 3 wire unit, but it is internally regulated. While a true ONE wire is easier to install, some require a higher RPM before they kick in and can cause a teeny trickle discharge on the battery (could use a diode if neecessary). Most all require Negative ground which means you may have to do some easy re configuring for Negative ground if youre at positive now. The smaller one wire (may be foreign) units fit under some hoods a lot easier then the Delco 10SI
