I think that you would need to look at your compression and the amount of advance you run. Most tractors were made to run on 70 octane when made. Just remember, to much octane is just as bad as not enough. Does it detonate under a heavy load? Fresh fuel helps too. Todays fuel isn't much good after 30 days or so. Good luck.
