The water jacket just above the fuel pump and extending behind the governor is where most cracking occurs. Many have been welded and will still hold water. Check the oil for water which might indicate an internal crack. The manifolds also were prone to rusting out and cracking. I'm about done with an F14. I've enjoyed working on the 14, but I'll buy a restored one next time around. Rrestored ones are just to plentiful and cheap to justify sinking much into an unrestored one. My next project will be a 12.
