I think the power steering pump will work fine if you use one off a car. I prefer GM as that is what I am used to. A Chevy steering pump normaly puts out 2300-2500 psi. The steering gear piston in most cars is about 3" and the pump has enough volume to move it as fast as you want to turn the steering wheel, even at idle, so I don't think a steering pump will be short of pressure or volume for this applacation.
