1963 706 diesel has the D-282 six cylinder engine rated at 72.42 horsepower on PTO, 67.55 on drawbar .Your Ford 5000 is about 55 hp. Transmission is a four speed with high and low range giving 8 forward speeds. Reverse has 4 speeds. With the optional powershift Torque-Amplifier ( TA ), tractor has 16 forward, 8 reverse. Independant PTO (if equipped ). The International(Wheatland) tractors generally had a non- adjustable front axle. Rear wheels had a small amont of tread spacing adjustment. Tractor may or may not have been equipped with two-point or three-point hitch. Shipping weight was about 8500 lbs. The D-282 engine has glow plugs to assist in cold weather starting and if all six of them are working the engine starts reasonably well.In 1967 IH put a German built D-310 engine in the 706 models giving more power . The transmission shift pattern is Hi-Low-N-R on the range lever and 1-2-3-4 on the speed lever. Range shifting required having to go into low and then out again if you were shifting from Hi to reverse. Some say this is a problem ,others not. The later 56 series improved on the Range shifting pattern. A 706 is a lot more tractor than the Ford 5000 you have now.
